Work life balance

Changing your attitude can help you improve Work Life Balance

Work hard and work all the time. You will be successful. Isn’t it tempting to think that the way up the career ladder is to work all the time? But there’s is absolutely no need to be so hard on yourself. You can be great at your job, be an effective leader, and still have a healthy work life balance. It all begins with what you think and believe. It’s all in the mind.

“Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.” – Winston Churchill

Are you someone who is always available for work? Are you willing to do all that your job demands? Do you find yourself glued to your laptop at weekends? Is your family always complaining that you never make time for them? Well, you must be thinking that your career is highly demanding and the real key to success is to give it all you got. You can give your profession everything, only if it was your whole life. Only if it defined who you are. But does it?

How you look at work life balance will help you improve it

No ideal definition of Work Life balance

Aren’t we all different?

For some individuals, work-life balance can mean having an equal amount of time for both work and non-work activities. For others, it can mean distancing themselves from work so that they can fully engage in activities beyond work. Well, to each his own. Work-life balance is not about sticking to a rule or strictly separating your work and personal life. It is perhaps about integrating your personal life with your professional life. What looks like balance to me might be a hustle to you. You need to find your own ways that would help you find the golden mean.

Take a look at your Organizational Culture

How is success measured at your workplace?

Your company culture plays an important role in your work life balance. If efficiency within your organization is measured by the number of hours everyone puts in and the sacrificed weekends, there is a problem. Better work life balance begins with the managers. “Hustle culture” has enough potential to destroy your work-life balance.

Prioritize Time for Family, Friends, and Hobbies

Make time for your loved ones.

Your career can offer success, fame, and money but is that all you need to be happy? Only if we were not humans with emotions. Family and friends form a strong support system. You can always lean on them for emotional and ental support when things are not going well with you. Your hobbies are a way to relax your mind and recharge yourself. It is important to make room for things that really matter to you. There is a life beyond work and therein lies the richness and meaning of life.

To put it all honestly and simply, work life balance has more to do with your personality rather your job.
