Everyone has the first day at a job. If you are an introvert on top of that, socialising can be a bit daunting. Even the thought of the new place and new people can make you weak in the knees. Work on your body language, relax yourself and your coworkers would reflect the same attitude. Even if you are anxious inside, smile and be confident in your poise, this would instill some confidence in your fellow workers.

Remember you have earned the job.

You have been selected out of a lot of candidates and you have already proven your worth in the interview. It’s time to act like it. You are also excited about your new job. Reminding yourself of your worth and reflecting it in your stance are great ways to boost confidence. Focus on what you are bringing to the table and you are no less than your coworkers who have been working for years. One of the ways to boost confidence is to work on achievable goals on your first day. It becomes more difficult to be making mistakes at new job with small doable tasks.

Ask questions

When you start a new job, you are clueless about what it all entails. Although you have sufficient knowledge about your field, you may not know everything. Nobody expects you to either. Don’t hold onto the pretense, ask detailed questions about your tasks. Realising that it is okay not to know is also one of the best ways to boost confidence.

Be social

They are not perfect or fully capable either. They had their first days just like you.

Embrace it

You would notice how it boosts your confidence. With time, you would realise that the new job is fun. First days are going to be difficult but it’s not impossible to deal with.
