5 Day Work Week

Here’s how you can make your 5 day work week more fulfilling

Mundane, hectic, tiresome – that’s how people usually define their workweek. But it really need not be like that. We become what we think, don’t we? Recognizing the fact that our work-life occupies the major part of our day, it will be challenging and hectic, and then moving on to make it more fun-filled and inspiring can work wonders. I would love to outline a few suggestions that can really make your 5 day work week more fulfilling.

How can you make your 5 Day Work Week more fulfilling

Take Charge

Taking charge of your work and being more accountable can actually help you streamline and organize your work better. Being proactive at work can reduce your stress to a great extent. Managers actually do not appreciate people who need to be managed every now and then. How about being your own Boss? Start with communicating to your manager about your daily work schedule or how you intend to work on the projects. It is a great way to kickstart your day. You would not only feel more motivated but also get inspired to complete the work more effectively and efficiently.

Use your Lunch Time not just for lunch

A one-hour lunchtime need not only be about food. You can actually make use of your lunch break to recharge your mind for the second half of the day. If you have access to a gym or yoga studio, a 30-minute treadmill walk or simple asanas can be a great stress buster. If you are a coffee lover, a caffeine shot with a colleague or simply by yourself would definitely elevate your energy levels. If you are the quiet type and love to indulge in enriching activities, reading a short story or listening to a podcast is a brilliant idea! How you would like to spend your precious 30 minutes is totally up to you. But remember, it is an integral part of your 5 day work week. Make it fulfilling!

Avoid Superficial Friendships at workplace

Wherever we are, we love to connect with people with similar interests and inclinations. It is a way to building great friendships at the workplace. These are the people we put our faith in and a mutual feeling of solidarity emerges. A supportive colleague within the organization can be a real friend, guide, and philosopher. On the other hand, a negative influence can bring you down. I suggest you avoid such friendships at the workplace which are devoid of any value in your personal and professional life. But be kind and friendly towards everyone in the office. When you are working together and lifting each other’s spirits, your 5 day work week gradually turns joyful. Instead of resenting your workdays, you actually start looking forward to them. Isn’t that wonderful?

Ask your Boss for feedback on a regular basis

Feedbacks go a long way in career growth. Most of the confusion and stress at work comes from not knowing what your boss thinks about your work. If you start taking feedback on a regular basis, it can help you identify your strengths and weaknesses. Once you begin building your foundation upon your core strengths and improving upon your weaknesses, your career will undergo an amazing transformation. All by incorporating small changes in your 5 day work week.

Request for resources you need at work

Do not hesitate in asking for resources you need to keep your energy high at the workplace. While working, your health and happiness need not be ignored. Be it a coffee machine or a standing desk, request for resources that can help you stay happy, healthy, and inspired. If you strongly believe that everyone in your office will greatly benefit from an in-house gym, go ahead and make that request to your managers.

You need not wait for weekends to be happy

Self-love, care, relaxation, happiness are not just for the weekends. You can be happier with small steps in your 5 day work week as well. Work-life can be challenging, stressful, and hectic. We are already aware of that part. And that goes for every aspect of life. So gradually moving towards a more fulfilling work schedule can help you create a fine work life balance.

You deserve to be happy, every day of the week!

Hope these suggestions make a difference in your workweek. Happy working!
