Are your job responsibilities too overwhelming? Is there a personal issue you need to attend to? Are you expecting something from the company? These exit interview questions are asked for the simple reason that the organization doesn’t want its employees to just leave. If there is something that can be resolved, the management makes sure that they do it. Employee retention is a key concern.

Do you think you had all the resources to do your job well?

One of the most common exit interview questions, this aims at knowing if you felt well-equipped for your current role. Your management would certainly wish to know if you were provided all the required resources to do your job. You might think that there’s no point in complaining before you leave. But please understand that being honest in your response would help the management improve in the long run.

How do you look at the relationship with your supervisor?

This is a tricky one. Thinking that you should maintain a positive tone and be appreciative about everything, this question might disturb you a bit. Why is this one of the most common interview questions is because your supervisor has been the major influence at work. Your management would like to know all the aspects of the relationship. It is definitely not all sunshine so be honest with your answer. This will help the organization strengthen its managerial foundation.

What did you like the most about your job and what you didn’t?

Since the objective of an exit interview is to gain constructive feedback from you, it’s important to highlight both – the positives and negatives of your job. While you appreciate the brighter side, do not hesitate in pointing out the aspects that you just did not like. One of the common interview questions, this one is a chance to be completely honest for it leaves a great room for improvement for the organization.
