Hydrocarbon Discovery: In May 2018, through its consistent efforts in exploration, OIL made its second hydrocarbon discovery in the on-land Krishna-Godavari basin. The discovery has been made at the well Thanelanka-1 in Andhra Pradesh. The well Thanelanka-1 is the first High Pressure – High Temperature (HP-HT) well drilled by OIL and has encountered multiple sands in Gollapalli Formation of Late Jurassic-Early Cretaceous and one zone in Raghavapuram Formation of Intra Cretaceous. On testing, the HP-HT zone in the depth range 4912-5159 m in Golapalli Formation produced gas at 1300 scmd through 16/64” bean choke. Presently, the well is under further testing.

Sustainable Development: Amidst the backdrop of climate change and the responsibility of the oil and gas companies, OIL strives to become a sustainability-driven energy firm. This company is sincerely committed to exploring clean energy solutions for the nation. In doing so, OIL has successfully commissioned its fourth commercial Wind Energy Project in the states of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, fully commissioned in January 2018.

Adding to this, OIL also commissioned a Captive 500KW Solar Energy Project at Jorhat, Assam in March 2018.
