In the year 1997, Strike Energy was established at Adelaide. The prime objective of the firm is the rapid commercialization of the world scale multi Tcf gas resource located within its Southern Cooper Basin Gas Project. With the rich experience and technical expertise of the firm’s management, Strike Energy aspires to successfully develop and commercialize its portfolio of high-quality assets.
Significant Developments at Strike Energy
February 7, 2018: Strike Energy Limited, as operator of PEL96, and Halliburton, a leading global oilfield services firm, have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which grants Halliburton the right of first refusal to provide integrated drilling, completion and stimulation services on commercial terms for the first 50 wells to be executed as part of the proposed Phase-1 50TJ/d development of the Southern Cooper Basin Gas Project in PEL 96 (SCBGP).
Along with Halliburton, Ensign has been contracted to deliver the Jaws-1 appraisal well for the PEL96 JV which was spud on the 14th of February. It will be a great learning for both Halliburton and Strike. They will be able to build strong capability around the delivery of these technologically advanced horizontal deep coal wells in preparation for the planned Phase-1 project.
In the words of Halliburton’s Regional Vice President of Asia Pacific Sid Whyte, “The Jaws-1 well is an exciting project that plays to our strength in collaborating and engineering solutions to maximize asset value for our customers. We are pleased to agree to terms where both parties are looking at continuing our collaborative relationship, and Halliburton is confident we will execute successfully against our key performance criteria and deliver superior service quality for Strike.”
According to the officials at Strike, this association will further strengthen their strategic relationship. Certainly, it will ensure significant cost reductions and enhanced well delivery.
Updates on this development
Strike Energy Limited provided an update on production operations at the Jaws-1 appraisal wells. The Jaws wells were brought online following the commissioning of the two electric submersible pumps (ESPs). Strike has ensured that the pumps have been adequately bedded in and that the system is ready for ramping up. The current production (>1,100 bwpd) has a good productivity index trend, indicating a significant reservoir inflow and which bodes well for the pilot testing of the Jaws area. Strike believes the reservoir is yet to fully engage as Strike is currently running the ESPs close to their lowest settings and the rate of reduction of the fluid column is decreasing in relation to the increasing barrels of water produced.
