You love your job. But you strongly feel that something is amiss. You know you can do better than this. All you need is to feel more inspired at work. Inspiration shines differently on your performance. The motivation, the drive, the creativity – everything appears to rise. And your work raises the bar in the light of such inspiration. We have outlined a few suggestions for you. To help you feel more inspired at work and go that extra mile in your career in oil and gas.
“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on.” – Steve Jobs
Setting unrealistic goals for yourself can be overwhelming. It is not a sustainable concept as procrastination and frustration can seep in. Plan on setting smaller goals and thus, you can break your work into smaller chunks. It will not give you space to give more attention to details but would help you complete the task efficiently. Further, smaller goals or tasks can be effectively organized and managed.
When you are already aware that the work at hand is difficult and challenging, you must start looking at it as an exciting project. If you magnify the difficulty of the task in your head, it will start growing on you. You must look forward to the work, not dread it. Don’t you think so? If it still scares you, try reminding yourself why you love doing what you do and what the project means to you.
The hunger to learn something new is motivation enough to take you forward in your career. Be curious. And it is not necessary that you have to acquire knowledge and skills only pertaining to your work profile. It can be a new language, an instrument, creative writing, or anything that gives you a wider perspective. You can always apply your learning at work and offer creative solutions.

The most amount of energy and enthusiasm within the workplace comes from the people working there. We know there can be no black and white. There will be some positive and some negative influences. If you let yourself get carried away every time, it will drain your mental and emotional peace. Preserve your energy for better things. Indulging in gossips and building superficial relationships at the workplace can do more harm than you can imagine. You are there for a purpose, make sure your efforts are channelized in fulfilling that purpose.
Be on time and leave on time. It might seem that you are really pushing your boundaries when you stay late at work every other day. But trust me, you are only damaging your work life balance. You need not be a workaholic to prove your commitment to work. It is a job that you love, not your identity. And remember, certainly not your whole life. You are bound to experience burnout at work sooner than others if you keep working late every day. To stay inspired and motivated, you need to restore your energy for the next day.
