How to spend your weekend for a better work life balance?

We did discuss at length about having a fulfilling 5 day work week and how you can feel more inspired at work. Weekends are also an integral part of work life balance and if you are carrying your work home, a lot of things are not right. Weekends must be preserved for relaxation and recharging your mind, body, and soul. How to spend your weekend is not about outlining rules for you rather, helping you find some better and smarter ways.

How to spend your weekend for a better work-life balance?

Unplug from office

Answering emails, checking your workspace channels like Slack, working on a project, shouldn’t be on your list over weekends. My boss has made it very clear to the team members that he doesn’t expect any emails or calls from us during the precious Saturday and Sunday. Yes, technology keeps us connected. But there needs to be a fine line. How to spend your weekend is entirely up to you but it is your time. Time to do things you love doing. Maybe go to a special place, visit that cafe on your list for a long time, read a short story or two, or indulge in exercises. But work on weekends is a No Go Zone.

Invest in Your Hobbies

When I do not find time to dive into my hobbies, I feel detached to my own self. And trust me, it is not a good feeling at all. My personal interests, passions, are non-related to work and that is why they help me relax my mind. Giving up on hobbies is perhaps too much of a price to pay for. Whatever is it that you love doing, make time for that activity. Your hobbies can be one of the best ways to recharge. If this inspires you, all the successful people you know have a passion apart from work that they pursue. Don’t you wish to join the club?

Spend time with family and friends

We take our families and friends for granted. We tend to believe that they will understand our busy schedule. Certainly, they understand. But what we don’t understand while overworking is that our relationships begin to suffer. It is these close people in your life that have your back. Spending time with them should not be outlined in a blog, rather it should come naturally to you. It is wonderful to have a career but when you feel low or need help, your job will not come forward for any emotional help. And isn’t mental and emotional well-being part of the journey? I would say, the most important part.
